This was so beautiful and sad. I was not expecting it to end how it did and I really felt for Lord Winthrop.

Wasn't he just lovely? That poor creature.

Thank you Caroline. I'm so glad you liked it. I'm doing "The Story Behind The Story" on Winthrop in a couple of weeks. It was fun to write about.

I'll look out for it!

Beautiful and moving short piece. I like stories with some gothic feeling in them.

Thank you. I was wary of keeping it completely third person and not introducing the female protagonist but I'm glad people could still experience the story. Thank you for reading!

Omg, is this a remake of beauty and the beast? Love the moonlight sonata, I play that song on the piano, though I am not that good with it but it is a beautiful haunting melody. Great story Hannah. Also good luck with the competition. I look forward to reading your work.

Thank you Ika. Yes, it was my little spin on one of the world's favourite stories. I can't play the piano at all! I love the music though.

I had a similar thought; it made me think of Phantom of the Opera, especially with the musical connection. All three have similar themes.

Your words create the most beautiful compelling images in my mind! And a deep ache in my heart for their story.

Unexpected! I really enjoyed it. Especially someone who loves Moonshine Sonata I can understand why the Lord enjoyed it so much 🙂

Thank you for sharing this great story!

Thank you Sergej. I needed a story for the Lunar awards and a blatantly obvious sci fi or fantasy story wasn't coming to me, so we have this speculative, supernatural piece instead. I was heavily inspired by Angela Carter's fairy tale retellings for this. I love her work. Disturbing, but still pretty good.
