Thanks Liz. Looking forward to sharing more. It's really hard when you're so far ahead and you can't just blab! I want to blab. But trust me---more to come.
I'm seriously loving this part 2. It just keeps on getting better with all this deeper information, which especially brings out the characters a lot more. Your unexpected switch of point of view for part 2 is working exceptionally well. And to suddenly go from classic Victorian gothic horror to sort of (supernatural) mystery is a clever touch. And I am definitely getting a very, very pleasing hint of Wilkie Collins here - which is a compliment, by the way...
@Evelyn K. Brunswick I have a confession to make: the only time I've ever come across Wilkie Collins was when I was on my MA course and it was one of the sensationalist novels we were studying.
Naturally, the full time course was geared at students who didn't have to work 3 jobs to afford to be on it so I didn't get time to finish reading The Woman In White, as it's a big book and I couldn't smash it in 3 weeks. I focused instead on Lady Audley’s secret and only had time for one fat book (and a few moderate ones) each semester. Looking back, the expected turnaround for reading the novels on the list was crazy!
I did however download it yesterday and start reading. I see what you mean. I'm hooked! Previously, I'd never got further than “The lady is ugly!” 😂
The Moonstone is obviously the classic. I am glad you are taking this as a compliment btw - you deserve it. I have been noticing just how brilliant your writing has become in part 2 of your Victorian Liverpool. I think with this new stuff you are doing you have finally found your oeuvre, lol. Sorry. I’m serious. I am really, really, loving your latest.
You’re a writer, Hanna. It’s your vocation. So there. Just do it.
I like how you are layering new information into the story, consistently reshaping the reader’s perception of the characters and the situation in the house. Fine work!
I hope he opens the letters. Reminds me of the old Master Piece Theater. Be fun to see it acted out
Oh you will be reading the letters, George. Just you wait.
You’re scaring me.
Better and better, this story gets! I look forward to every new chapter!

Thanks Richard! So many more layers to come.
