I haven't read the preceding chapters but had no problem becoming involved in the story. Very good, unhurried presentation of characters and mysterious atmosphere. Wondering about the shoeless boy and how he fits in. Muldoon is apparently a private investigator on special assignments for the police? A barrel full of dead babies - good heavens, something evil going on here.

Something very evil. Thanks George! It's great to hear from you again and I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Oh, what a fabulous turn! This is absolutely engrossing! I love the idea of this “special police” issue. And Muldoon is a great character. So looking forward to more!

Thanks Liz! I love Muldoon, he's my favourite. Well, he's the star. All the mysteries will involve him if I write more books in this series.

I love this story. There should definitely be more!

Muldoon is a great addition to the cast! I feel like we're starting to get somewhere, that we'll start discovering some answers. (Which will, of course, lead to more questions, but that's how it works, right?")

Lots and lots of questions. This thing is going to end up being a few books, I think. 😄

Really liked the addition of Muldoon. It just adds another layer to an already haunting story.

Thanks, Rob. Frances isn't available now, so we needed someone else to carry the story.

This is a great shift in perspective for this new part. Works perfectly and I am liking this story even more.

Definitely worth waiting all those weeks for...

And I like this Muldoon character. Hope his first name isn't Fox though and he doesn't get together with a scullery maid lol.

Hahaha, took me a while for the penny to drop! No, he's not having it off with the scullery maid 😂 He is a lone wolf, at least... For now. Thanks Evelyn.

This was great, Hanna. Really enjoyed the story expanding beyond the house. Also intrigued to find out more about Muldoon. Seems he’s been involved in a few other paranormal investigations in his past and very much reminds me of Kinderman from The Exorcist books with his world weary approach to police work.

Looking forward to where it goes next 👍🏼

Oo, cool. I've never read the exorcist books. I think I've seen clips of the film (that clip with the head) but should really watch the whole thing. It always seemed too scary! But I've seen the nun so I think I can handle it.

Yes, I was really looking forward to hitting everyone with the change in perspective. Frances can't tell the story right now because she's not doing well, but Muldoon has a mystery to solve. Thanks for reading, Dan! Oh he's a Daniel, too 😄

Kinderman is really well detailed in the books not so much in the movies. He a normal cop who has to deal with extraordinary circumstances but always just grumpily gets on with it. I still find the first Exorcist movie quite disturbing, but I’m sure it probably has dated a wee bit and isn’t as scary as it once was. Of course I watched it when I was far too young so that’s probably why it’s stayed with me!

Yes, I did notice Muldoon’s first name. Any Daniel is normally the smartest man in the room so I’m looking forward to him cracking the case in no time 😁

I just wanted to let you know that the opening paragraph of Chapter 14, is a genuine writing lesson on how to set the mood with sensory detail. Now, I'll continue reading..

Thanks Sandy! I really appreciate that.

This is SO good, Hanna!! I absolutely love the shift in perspective. I was not expecting that to happen to poor Frances - these chapters really shocked me with the turn they took, but I loved every word!

Thanks Nicole. I am looking forward to showing you more! I worried that this might have detracted from Frances' story but she's not really active enough to help move it along right now.

Oh bless her. But not at all - her absence from the beginning of this chapter made me worry about her even more, so for me at least, she was still very much present!
