Hi everyone! Yesterday (11th April) was the deadline for the first challenge of the Gibberish writing competition, so I have it to share with you below. I usually publish flash fiction on a Friday but there’s plenty to share with you today without Yours Truly getting a case of burnout.
Oh hang on a minute- I do have some flash fiction!
Ok so the short story I wrote for The
writing competition isn’t flash fiction but Winthrop hall is and that’s technically on the longer side but it still counts (because there are no rules here!).The challenge for this week was “depict a chase” and it was lots of fun. That’s week one down and there are two more challenges to go. I hope you enjoy what comes of this! If you have a minute, I’d love to know what you thought of it.
(I would have scheduled it to go out in today’s newsletter but it didn’t fit with the competition deadline.)
For the romantics out there.
I wrote this piece for Thorny Thursday. I don’t usually write romance but gothic romance? I gave it a go with this retelling of beauty and the beast. Enjoy.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the stories published by:
at . Check out Eric’s short story that not only throws you into a fantasy world in an accessible way but has you on the run, too! writes the sweetest, most magical that are perfect for your young readers at home. The tale she told for the writing competition is an enchanting scene on Mars and features a main character with a very lovely name. published a really poignant, dramatic tale set in Mongolia on his publication, . I really enjoyed it. I won’t give too much away but I think you’ll enjoy it, too. Got my pulse going with The Dead Zone on . Again, I’m not telling you much because- Shark!
This competition is brilliant and I’ve adopted all of these fellow writers as my new best friends. I hope they don’t mind. They’re just so good, you see!
Thanks so much for your support this month. It’s only my second month of writing on substack and I’m grateful for all of you. Thank you! I appreciate every like, comment, re-stack, recommendation and share that comes my way.
If you’re not a subscriber, (I think) you’re missing out. Come and join in with my fictional adventures. I’d love to have you along! If you’re not able to subscribe but really enjoy my work, you can also leave a tip below.
New friends! I love it. :D
I am still ridiculously amused that you and Hyun Woo both wrote about hunting she-wolves, and yet such different stories came out of that. "Only the wanton fool hunts the she-wolf" indeed.
New friends, yes! Y'all are talented writers and honestly just lovely people :) 🍻 cheers
