I had the fortune/misfortune of doing some brief stints at silver service (at a large country house/hotel place, yes it did do weddings - and I was rubbish at it) when I was a lot younger so I can visualise your setting perfectly. Lots of room for fascinating and fun and quirky characters that's for sure. Unfortunately there weren't any ghosts hanging around (at least none that I saw), but helping ourselves to spirits afterhours was, naturally, de rigueur...
