Behind the scenes of Blackbird, and other things.

Blackbird, Muldoon, Egyptian horror and Dan Simmons.

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video! I wasn’t expecting anybody when I realised I’d scheduled a live for Thanksgiving (it’s just a Thursday here!) so thank you for showing up! The transcript is here.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers.

What didn’t happen: I did not have a physical copy of The Shade In The Sands to show you, because it’s still out for delivery… somewhere. I also couldn’t seem to get the epub to load onto my Kindle. I sent it to my kindle 5 times. Oh well.

What did happen: I read two extracts from both The Spider and The Ring. Hopefully you were so hooked by my Scouseness that you’re interested to see what actually happens in these books set in Liverpool.

I also talked about The Midnight Vault II and how grateful I was to work on this project with other lovely people. Thank you to Ian Barr NICK AFTER NORMAL A.P. Murphy and Emily S Hurricane for getting me out of a hole.

Check out the entire list of stories here. They’ve been organised by genre to help the mood readers among us! I also like that you can tick it off when you’ve read certain people. I am still working through this epic list of Twilight Zone-inspired fiction. It’s fantastic.

Book blunders: This was hilarious to have to admit, but I will happily laugh at my errors. I opened up about a huge blunder I almost made with Oceanus back in 2024.

Talking inspiration: It was great to talk all things Dan Simmons, Shirley Jackson, Anne Rice and Daphne Du Maurier among others. Also, I have my Egyptomania head on and enjoyed sharing the inspiration behind some of the stories that will be in The Shade In The Sands.

Pre-release.

The Shade In The Sands was actually released on e-book early (I thought it would take longer for it to load on the apps) everywhere except for Kindle. As it currently stands, Kobo, Hoopla, Apple etc have the e-book right now. Kindle and paperback are coming out on Friday 5th December.
